Golf Irons

In your golf set, golf irons are very important. They usually make up 8 or 9 among the golf clubs you find in a golf bag. For this reason, it is important for you to choose the golf iron that is suitable for you. You can surely find the golf iron that is right for you no matter what type of golfer you are.

If you are looking for golf iron sets, keep in mind that there are basically two types of iron clubs, namely forged irons and cast irons. Forged irons are made by heating the metal and hammering it into shape. To achieve the right shape of the clubhead, it undergoes the process of milling, drilling and grinding. Cast irons on the other hand are made by pouring a liquefied metal into a mould to create the shape you desire. Because this process is easier, the cast irons are cheaper compared to forged irons. Aside from knowing the type of iron, it is also important for you to know the various functions for various iron clubs. For instance, there is a right golf iron for long green shots as well as there is a right golf iron for on the green shots.

Choose your golf iron set according to your height as well as your skill level. For instance, if you are a low handicap golfer, lower iron clubs like 3 and 4 may be ideal for you while irons 3 to 9 may be ideal for a mid handicap golfer. High handicap golfers on the other hand do not need to use iron clubs yet. They can start with woods and wedges first and as they improve their skills, they can start learning to use iron clubs.

When choosing your golf iron, consider the shaft as well as the head of your golf iron. The golf iron head comes in three sizes. You have the standard, midsize and oversized. You get more control from a standard iron head while a midsize iron head offers more “sweet spot”. Oversized iron head provides more forgiveness but may be harder to control. The shaft on the other hand is available in two types. You have a graphite and steel shaft. The steel shaft is more durable but heavier and limit the control of your swing. Graphite shaft offers more flex. So don’t just choose callaway irons golf or any brand for that matter. Research more on that particular golf iron to determine if it is the right one for you.
